After reading about the humiliation and suffering of women on the streets without access to sanitary products Sara Bakhaty, Oliver Frost, and Josephine Shedden all working in advertising, put their skills into launching a campaign to get sanitary products made available through homeless shelters. They launched the Homeless Period website (www.thehomelessperiod.com) pointing out the dehumanising experience of being without anything other than a dirty cloth during menstruation.They got hundreds of thousands of signatures for their campaign , achieved media coverage and inspired others to crowdfund for sanitary products and collection points have been set up.The scheme has ongoing support and publicity through social media.
